I suggest checking out these sites for great nightlife ideas, cultural events and just all around good times to be had!

Another way to stay up on things happening in your city is to grab a copy of your local newspaper. Local newspapers always have great ideas that are specific to your city. You should love wherey you live , and if you feel that your town is boring you aren’t digging deep enough!

Decorating Idea: Vintage Luggage

I get some of my best interior design ideas while researching past eras and visiting antique stores and flea markets.  Included in my favorite objects from the past are luggage sets. Sure luggage has come a far way since the 1960s,  and thank god for the advancements in the convenience area (can you image your biggest suitcase without wheels, yikes!),  but why are the majority of suitcases today so displeasing to the eye? That is a question to be examined on another day…

Now, I would like to take this time to discuss a cool way to display vintage luggage while also making it functional. Check out these gorgeous images of vintage luggage decor done right!

Make a chic bedside table out of colorful vintage luggage. Also adding that “wow” with a gorgeous pop of color!

Also great at the foot of your bed as a place to display art and books.

A great way to create extra table top space and  storage in your bathroom!

A beautiful piece of vintage luggage reincarnated as an equally beautiful chair. Can you say sustainability?!

And last but not least, vintage luggage can be useful for every member of the family!

My Favorite Lip Balm. Ever.

The one beauty product  I constantly purchase is lip balm and,  unfortunately, most of them leave me unsatisfied. I seem to have chapped lips all the time and the frustrating part is that I always wear lip balm on and always have it ready to re-apply. I did learn that chapped lips are a sign of dehydration and have been increasing the amount of water I drink, yet I know that’s not enough.

This is why I am so excited to share with you that after many years of researching almost every product, I have finally found the lip balm that works miracles! It’s called Bioderma Atoderm Lip Moisturizer for Dehydrated and Sensitive Lips and it is alllllllllllll it’s cracked up to be! The French have been using it for years and now we can also enjoy its benefits!

You can purchase this product of of Amazon and TRUST ME it is worth the $13!

So what are you waiting for? Let’s all get those soft luscious lips we deserve!

The Importance of Having a Notebook Handy!

From grade school through high school I was always given something called a “planner.” This little bound calendar was the key to my organization all through school but what happens when you’re no longer in school? No one gave me a planner when I entered my first year of college or later for my first job out of college. This is why I had to take it upon myself and go get a notebook.

Now notebook shopping is not as easy as it may sound. Some of us do fine with blank white pages and some of us need lines. For me, I”ve  found out that I need one with a  calendar  so I know what I’m doing each day in case I lose my Blackberry (knock on wood I havent’t yet, but you never know!)

Below I have listed some of the most popular and visually stunning notebooks.

1. Moleskin was created as a brand in 1997, bringing back to life the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. ( Moleskin Diary )

2. You can’t beat the beauty of a classic black and white marbled composition book!  (eschool crossing)

3. Rhodia notebooks are made in France and are a favorite among architects, designers, professionals, scientists and others who like fun and functional notebooks! (The Paperie)

4. Field Notes Notebooks. Any notebook company whose slogan is, “I’m not writing it down to remember it later, I’m writing it down to remember it now”  is good to go for me! (Style Villain)

In conclusion, having a notebook to write down appointments and work assignments is great but it’s also great to use during the day to write down those creative ideas or inspirations that you could likely forget as the day goes on.

P.S. Another great use for  notebook is to keep it next to your bed for those nights when  that you can’t fall asleep due to all the thoughts and ideas being thrown around in your head. When that occurs, just  grab your notebook and write everything down.  Tthat way you can clear your mind and fall asleep in peace!

Chalkboard Paint: It’s all it’s Chalked up to be!

Feeling the need to switch things up a little? Bored with those white walls you never got around to painting? Well I have the design cure for you! It’s called chalkboard paint. Not only is it kid approved (they can finally draw on your walls), it can also be a very chic way to dress up a room.

It is also an easy way to label cabinets and or create a visual to do list as well as a place to leave notes and ideas. Here are a few images to get your creative juices flowing:

Use your fridge not only to refrigerate and also to remember! As seen on the 818 blog!

Let your kids express their creativity all over their playroom walls! (project nursery)

Add aesthetic value to your home.  Love these pillars! (All Things Thrifty)

A few months ago, I decided my cheap coffee table from IKEA wasn’t quite cutting it anymore. I told my boyfriend about my drab design problem and he suggested we make it into a chalkboard. He sanded it down,  put a couple coats of chalkboard paint on it and, ta-da, my coffee table was young and hip again. When we have guests over, everyone enjoys being able to make their mark on our table. However, our table is not as awesome as this little cutie’s (The Imagination Tree):

Have fun with decorating and try something new like chalkboard paint! It’s great for all ages!

Beauty Secret: Argan Oil

Want to stop signs of aging ASAP? Try this hidden beauty secret that is just gaining popularity in the U.S. It’s called Argan Oil. Known by the Moroccan Berber community as the “Tree of Life,” the Argan tree (Argania spinosa) has supported the people of these arid regions for centuries.

high vitamin E content makes for an amazingly rich moisture for your face and hair. I know many Americans are hesitant to use  facial products with oil (notice how many products purport  to be “oil free” next time you go to buy beauty products) but  Argan Oil is an all natural, grease-free way to improve the texture of your face and hair.

Moroccan women take the Argan nut and press it to collect the precious, pure oil.

Just recently I have been using former model, Josie Maran’s, cosmetic line which completely centers around the benefits of Argan oil.  I absolutely love all of her products– so much that my daily routine consists of nothing but Maran’s products. I start out with the Argan primer mist, followed by the Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 40 and to top it off I apply the Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation (which goes on white but then instantly matches your natural skin tone.)  After these three steps I feel ready to take on the day with my fresh face!  Even better, by the end of the day my face still has that  dewy look that we all love, especially during the summer months.

Natural beauty Josie Maran. Who wouldn’t take beauty advice from this gorgeous girl?!

One last product that I MUST recommend is Moroccan Oil: Oil Treatment for all Hair Types. I will  say that all their hair products are wonderful but if you want to try only one product to start, the oil treatment is my definite recommendation! I pour a dime- sized bit  into the palm of my hand and run it through my wet hair after a shower. Additionally, if your hair is in need of some extra loving, you can use more oil and run it through your dry hair,  sleep with it in,  and simply wash it out the next morning.

All Josie Maran products are available on her website as well as at Sephora.

Morrocan Oil products can be found at most salons, beauty supply stores and on Amazon.
